Mabior Garang, the son of late Dr. John Garang de Mabior has dismissed media reports that he was arrested by Ethiopian authorities early this week.

Mabior told Turkish News Agency that media reports, which said he had been arrested, were false, and said that he is free and living in Addis Ababa.

Media reports suggested that Mr. Garang was arrested and interrogated by Ethiopian authorities.

The reports said he was arrested in connection with an alleged assassination attempt on the life of President Salva Kiir, who was in Addis Ababa to attend an IGAD summit.

On Wednesday, the office of the President dismissed the same media reports, which said that Mabior Garang had attempted to assassinate President Salva Kiir in Addis Ababa.

The press secretary in the office of the President, Ateny Wek Ateny, said the media reports were fabricated.
