South Sudanese political parties at the peace talks in Addis Ababa say the government delegation did not negotiate well during the fifth round of the talks.

“The Government delegation did not do very well, and I think if they have to succeed in the mission that is given to them, they have to change a lot of things,” said Dr Lam Akol, the Leader of the political parties’ delegation to the negotiations, upon arrival at Juba airport yesterday.

“A negotiator must be proactive, must be creative, must not be abusive, must be able to take the initiative, because the rebels,” he said.

He said that reports suggesting he met alone with Dr Riek Machar were false.

“It was all of us who went and meet Dr Riek in order to persuade him to continue in the talks,” he said.
Dr. Lam Akol said their presence in Addis Ababa was to talk to all the stakeholders at the negotiations in order to bring lasting peace to South Sudan.
