The Juba City Legislative Council has started naming the main streets in the Juba.

The council says the naming exercise followed three main categories of South Sudan’s geography, history and memorial events.

It says, naming the streets will help fire brigades and the police to help offer rescue operations in case of emergencies.

The speaker of the Juba City Council, Michael Ladu Alajabu, says they have so far named six main streets inside the city. These include Unity Street, Airport Street, Jubek Street, Martyrs Street, Custom Street and others.

Hono. Alajabu told Eye Radio this morning that they have already put up signposts to identify the roads that have been named.

He says they will form a committee on Monday to work together with the stakeholders in order to implement this plan and come up with names for the rest of the streets in Juba.

Hono. Alajabu said the city council will also name bridges in Juba.

He said council will use names that unite the people of South Sudan because Juba City is the national capital of the country.
