The former Chief of General Staff of the SPLA is calling on South Sudanese to forgive one another in order to restore peace to the country.

James Hoth Mai is now a member of Nuer Elders, a body leading a reconciliation between the Dinka and Nuer communities in Juba.

Addressing a prayer meeting at his private residence in Juba, General Hoth said it’s high time for South Sudanese to safe the country from collapse and urged church leaders to keep praying for peace in the country.

He said reconciliation will only be possible if people forgive one another.

He was replaced with General Malong Awan as SPLA Chief of General Staff last year.
