Chinese govt donates 63 vehicles to support peace army

The Chinese government has donated sixty-three vehicles including buses to the unified forces in logistical support for the implementation of the security arrangements.

Three weeks ago, the peace parties passed out more than twenty thousand peace soldiers comprised of the various units, namely the police, national security, fire brigade, and the wildlife, among others

At the weekend more than two thousand graduated from the Mundri training camp as part of the first phase of integrating and unifying the forces.

Speaking to the state-own TV, SSBC Tuesday, the Defense Minister, Angelina Teny said friends of South Sudan have shied away from supporting the extended peace process, except China.

“They have come very boldly, and we respect that,” said Teny.

The Us had withdrawn funding to the peace monitoring body, R-JMEC citing the lack of commitment by the parties to implement the peace accord.

it stated that the two-year extension of the transitional period will only aggravate the suffering of South Sudanese citizens.

However, it vowed to continue its support to the people of South Sudan and their aspirations.

The Biden Biden administration only offered to support grassroots peace and provide humanitarian assistance to the vulnerable and much needy population who are affected by the flood situation and the economic crisis.

Of the donors, the US remains the biggest funder to South Sudan since its independence.

This year alone, the United States Government, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), has contributed USD $223 million to the United Nations World Food Programme for critical food and nutrition assistance to reach millions on the brink of starvation in South Sudan.

Meanwhile, its Troika ally, the UK said it is supporting both R-JMEC and CTSAM-VM in kind, and Norway on the other hand supports the two mechanisms financially and in kind.

Boda-boda convention blocked, reasons unexplained

The South Sudan first Boda-Boda national convention has been called off after the security personnel reportedly blocked participants from accessing the venue in Juba Monday.

Eye Radio’s Journalist who attempted to cover the event was told by the security personnel to return saying no one was allowed to access the venue.

The road between the Customs and University of Juba roundabouts was seen blocked in the early hours of Monday, disrupting a key route for motorists.

The two-day event organized by the office of Vice President for Youth and Gender Cluster with support from UN population agency, UNFPA was to focus on Peacebuilding, Gender Equality and Positive Masculinity.

According to the UN agency boda-boda is the main means of transportation in the country.

It estimated that a total of 70,000 young people aged between 15 and 35 are engaged in business across the Country, which is helping them address their family needs.

However, according to the office of the Vice President for Youth and Gender, the Boda-Boda riders are at high-risk behaviors of committing gender-based violence, alcohol, and substance abuse which increases their vulnerability to violence.

They are also vulnerable to road traffic accidents and acquire sexually transmitted infections including HIV and Hepatitis.

NBGs Anti-corruption Commission Chairperson defies order to sack him

Northern Bahr el Ghazal’s State Anti-corruption Commission Chairperson has defied the governor’s order lifting his immunity and relieving him from office.

Governor Tong Akeen Ngor lifted Anei Rok Akuei’s immunity and sacked him from office on September 14th for labeling him corrupt.

“This is a wrong procedure and it’s a violation of the agreement. I am ready to defend it based on evidence for my reputation of evidence to indicate corruption in the state,” Rok said in response to the order.

Last month, Anei Rok claimed his commission established that the governor and finance minister concealed millions of pounds in taxes annually.

He also alleged that the two officials diverted vehicles meant for constitutional post holders to individuals not serving in the government.

This, he said, has forced some officials to foot to work and home.

Rok further accused governor Akeen of avoiding meeting with his investigation team.

Governor Akeen also opened a defamation case against Anei Rok for accusing him and the Finance Minister of embezzling public funds.

The Anti-graft commissioner was appointed on the ticket of the SPLM-IO under the 2018 peace agreement.

“I consider this lifting of my immunity unlawful since our center of power is President Salva Kiir Mayardit who can remove or lift constitutional stakeholder immunity in consultation with my political party, SPLM-IO.”
