The Sudanese government is calling for implementation, without interruption, of the Cooperation Agreement with South Sudan.

A Sudanese official says the current conflict in South Sudan should not hinder the implementation of diplomatic and trade agreements between the two countries.

Sudanese Minister of Information Ahmed Belal Osman told Eye Radio that they support a peaceful settlement to the violence in South Sudan.

He said Sudan is willing to follow through with the cooperation agreement despite the conflict.

“Our position is that we still have an agreement with South Sudan and we support the legitimate government in South Sudan, and all agreements that we have signed with South Sudan,” he said. “It is Necessary to implement them all.”

Mr. Osman said that the Sudanese government is not involved in the current conflict in South Sudan.

The Cooperation Agreement was signed in September 2013.

The deal covers oil, citizenship rights, security issues, banking, border trade among others.
