Kapoeta civil servants demand 3-month salary arrears

Author : | Published: Wednesday, May 14, 2014

The Commissioner of Kapoeta North is urging the state government to pay salaries of civil servants in the county so that service delivery is not interrupted by a strike.

Some teachers and nurses in the county have gone on strike for not receiving 3 months salaries.

Commissioner Lokai Iko told Eye Radio’s Dawn Program that work in schools and hospitals have been interrupted by the strike.

“If nurses or doctors stay for 3 months without pay, what do you expect?….definitely they will not even help people and the result of it is that people will not be helped in the health centers,” he stated.

“These people have children whom they need to feed and pay their school fees and that will contribute to the performance of our education.”

Commissioner Lokai urges the nurses and the teachers to report to work as they wait for their salaries.
