7 inmates killed in Kapoeta

Seven inmates have been killed and four others injured in a riot at a prison in Kapoeta North County in Eastern Equatoria State this afternoon.

The State Minister of Information said inmates in Rwoto prison tried to break the wall of the facility in protest against shortage of food.

Mark Arkio said the inmates threw stones at security forces that were deployed to restore order. The forces shot at the inmates in response.
