The United Nations Security Council says it is ready to impose sanctions on South Sudan because of the failure of peace talks.
It says this will put pressure on the warring parties to stop violence and encourage the formation of a transitional government.
This month, the SPLM in Opposition and the government failed to reach an agreement in Addis Ababa.
The Security Council members, in a statement yesterday, expressed disappointment at the failure of the talks. They condemned the violation of the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement.
It says impunity should end. Violators of human rights should be held accountable.
