The Governor of Gbudue State, Raphael Patrick Zamoi, has survived a deadly ambush on Ringasi -Yambio road.

The governor fell in the ambush on Saturday while returning from an official visit to Tambura County where he went to brief the community there on the new changes in the Transitional Government of National Unity.

Two of his bodyguards and the driver sustain injuries in the incident.

The purpose of his visit to Tambura was also to accompany the new county commissioner back home.

Mr. Zamoi says he considered the attack on his convoy as an “isolated incident.”

“None of the vehicles was shot at – only my car. It is difficult to come to conclusion; I might have been the target,” he told Eye Radio.

There have been deadly fighting in the area, involving vigilante groups and government forces.
