The US Government has proposed 4,000 as the number of soldiersĀ to make up the foreign protection force to be deployed in Juba.

It says the force will ensure that there is peace in the country by securing the capital and protecting the airport and other key facilities.

According to the Reuters news agency, the proposal was made in a draft resolution circulated to members of the Security Council.

In the resolution, the US would approve the force “to use all necessary means, including undertaking robust and active steps and engaging in direct operations where necessary.”

The US expressed readiness to impose an arms embargo on South Sudan if the leaders of the Transitional Government of national Unity fail to cooperate with the decision.

The Reuters media reports the Security Council will vote on whether to impose an arms embargo if the UN Secretary General reports obstruction of the deployment of the foreign forces by the Transitional Government.
