A woman was shot dead on Wednesday by unknown gunmen on the outskirts of Chukudum town.

“A woman was shot dead yesterday at 12 p.m. just some three kilometers outside Chukudum town while she and others – her friends were collecting firewood,” Sam Felix Makuja, Budi County Commissioner, explained to Eye Radio.

“She was wounded and when she was rushed to the hospital she passed away immediately.”

The women alerted the town youth who followed the foot marks of the attackers.

Mr. Makuja said the suspects ran towards the neighboring Ikotos County.

Mr. Makuja says he has warned the residents of Budi against revenge attacks. The authorities will investigate the incident.
