Thirteen policemen have been arrested for negligence in Eastern Equatoria State.

They were on duty when 19 murder suspects escaped from police custody in Torit over the weekend.

The Police Commissioner in the state, Edward Dimitry, says the suspects were accused of playing a role in the killing of women and children during clashes between Loronyo and Idali communities last year.

Edward says the policemen who were on duty will face the law.

“They are going to get punishment according to our regulation and police act that governs such behavior. During that day, we increased the number of the guards who were working. We had negative information about the town and we increased the number to thirteen police men and five officers, all of them were there but unfortunately the escape happened, and I think that is a big negligence.” He said.

Dimitry has urged the people of Loronyo to report the suspects to the security agents.
