The United Kingdom is preparing to send 80 medical paratroopers to South Sudan for the peacekeeping mission.

According to the UK government website, Defense Secretary Michael Fallon said the troops will be part of more than 200 soldiers UK sent to the country in September this year.

“Britain is committed to tackling the instability that leads to mass migration and terrorism. This deployment shows how Britain is stepping up its global commitments – in the interests of humanity but also because it makes Britain and the world a safer place,” Fallon said.

The Medical team, known as 16 Air Assault Brigade, which is expected to be deployed early next year, will transport a fully-fitted parachutable field hospital to South Sudan.

They can be sent on operations by parachute, aeroplane and helicopter to conduct rescues during emergencies.

Apparently, there are more than 12,000 peacekeepers serving under the UN mission in the country.
