Author : | Published: Wednesday, February 11, 2015

The Mayor of Torit municipality says the risk of water borne diseases, including Cholera, is high in the town.

Martin Odeki Ohure told Eye Radio that many people drink untreated water.

“Most people drink water from river Kiniete and as such it is not very clean especially during the rainy season. People are living along the river and others do not have toilets, and they go for open defecation. When it rains, all these water is washed into the river.” He said.

Odeki says he will sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the German ambassador in March to deliver clean drinking water.

He urges people in the town to construct pit latrines and drink boiled water.
