Terekeka County hires over 40 teachers from Uganda

The Terekeka County Commissioner in Central Equatoria state says they he has hired more than 40 teachers from Uganda to improve education standards in the county.

The County commissioner, Jacob Gore said 35 teachers were hired for primary schools and 9 teachers for secondary schools.

The Commissioner told Eye Radio that schools in his county is one of the poor performing counties in the state.

“Terekeka County is one of the six Central Equatoria state counties which are still lacking in terms of education. Terekeka County needs a special approach to improve its education level. Last week, I went to Uganda and I hired 35 primary teachers and 9 teachers for secondary school science section”, Gore said.

The Terekekeka County Commissioner said it is now about four years since the county registered students to sit examinations in the sciences section.

Commissioner Gore said that salary and accommodations of the foreign teachers will be handled jointly by the parents and the county authorities.

He said a number of schools in the county were closed down last year due to lack of teachers.
