Authorities in Warrap State say ten people have been killed and five others wounded in cattle raids in Tonj-North County.

The Deputy Governor of Warrap State, Aketch Tong, told Eye Radio that the suspects who killed the civilians on Sunday have been arrested.

“A sergeant mobilized citizens, his relatives and then went to attack people in Tonj-North. At night, he attacked a cattle camp and then he killed ten people and then five people wounded. Now the sergeant was identified by a certain citizen who saw them early in the morning when they came back from where the incident occurred”, said Tong.

Mr. Aketch said the three commissioners of Tonj- East, Tonj-North and Tonj-South have been meeting to find solution to insecurity, which he says is becoming rampant.

The Deputy Governor said the state government has deployed 400 security forces in the area to help contain the situation.
