SPLM-DC is still ‘active’

Author : | Published: Monday, June 23, 2014

A senior SPLM-DC official says his party is still playing its active role as opposition party in the ongoing crisis.

The Secretary General Deng Bior said his party is working together with the government to restore peace and stability in the country.

Some leaders from other political parties in the country have accused the SPLM-DC of taking sides with the government or ruling party and forgetting about the opposition role.

Mr. Bior added the opposition is a matter of principle not a matter of government bower.

“Opposition is when you want to push the programs that you think are the right programs for the government to implement and if the government doesn’t implement than you oppose,” said Mr Bior.

“So, opposition is a matter of principle it’s not a matter of person to person or government or power to power it’s an objectivity, so we direct the government of what to do.”

The government and SPLM-DC are currently participating in Addis Ababa peace talks as one team.
