The humanitarian agencies Médecins Sans Frontières and the International Committee of the Red Cross say they have treated at least 150 people who were wounded after violence erupted in Malakal town a few days ago.

The patients suffered gunshot wounds from the clashes in the town as well as injuries as a result of inter-communal fighting at UN protection sites.

More than 55 patients suffering from gunshot wounds have been taken for treatment to M-S-F’s facility in Nasir County.

Mr. Goldfarb said M-S-F fears that the escalating levels of violence are threatening the security of the population even in the place where displaced people are currently seeking protection.
