President Kiir directs health ministry, partners to reduce mother death

President Salva Kiir has directed the Ministry of Health and its development partners to double their efforts to reduce the death of mothers and eradicate fistula.

This is according to the statement made by the Press Secretary in the Office of the President, Lily Adhieu Martin on International Women’s Day.

President Kiir has directed the Ministry of Health and concerned development partners to double their efforts to reduce maternal mortality rate during childbirth as well as eradicate fistula,” stated a statement from the Office of the President.

The statement stated that President Kiir acknowledges the pivotal role of women in the nation’s development.

President Salve Kiir emphasizes the need for gender equality and women’s rights as South Sudan celebrates Women’s Day under the theme Invest in women; accelerate progress.

According to the statement, the government has implemented various policies to empower women, ensuring their representation in decision-making processes to combat discrimination.

It states the need for free primary and secondary education policies that aim to provide equal access, especially for young girls.

According to the president, women’s empowerment and protection of rights are a central vision for South Sudan through promoting women’s participation in all aspects of society.

The celebration highlights the resilience and importance of South Sudanese women in shaping the nation’s future.
