Professor Robert Mayom Kuoirot will be the new Vice-Chancellor of the University of Juba (UoJ). He replaces Professor John Akec who was appointed in 2014 by President Salva Kiir.

This came after President Kiir issued several Republican decrees relieving and substituting the Vice-Chancellors and their deputies of the five Public Universities in the country.

Kiir appointed the VCs for the University of Juba, Upper Nile University, Dr John Garang Memorial University, Rumbek University of Science and Technology, and Bahr El Ghazal University respectively.

In a presidential decree read on state TV SSBC on Friday, March 8, 2024, Kiir dismissed Prof. John Akec as Vice Chancellor of the University of Juba and appointed Prof. Robert Mayom Kuoirot as the new Vice Chancellor

President Kiir also removed Kimbo Aban the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the Academics Affair and Robert Mayom of Administration and Finance at the University of Juba.

He appointed Isaac Celto Hassan as Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Dr. Justo Wani Jada as Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Administration and Finance at the University of Juba.

Prof. Mamur Chuol Turuk was appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of Upper Nile University replacing the late Prof. Marial Awou Yol who died in September 2023.

Kiir removed Yoanis Edward Adwok from his position as Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Academic Affairs, and Billy Madison from the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Administration and Finance of Upper Nile University.

He replaced them with Amaro Samuel Jobara Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Flora Eliab Severino Lado for Administration and Finance.

Kiir also dismissed Professor Victor Loku as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Bahr el Ghazal and replaced him with Professor Ernesto Bernado Jada.

Dr. Rose Ajak became the new Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs for Bahr el Gazal University replacing Peter Atem Deng.

Kuel Maluil Jok was appointed as Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Administration and Finance replacing Dr. Hawa Morgan.

President Kiir named Professor Abraham Matoch Dhal as the new Vice-Chancellor for Dr John Garang Memorial University.

Furthermore, Kiir appointed Professor Joshua Otor Akol as the new Vice-Chancellor of Rumbek University of Science and Technology, replacing Professor Deng Manasseh Mac.

Kiir then appointed Professor Pauline Riak as the new Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs.
