Seven people, including a traditional chief, have been arrested in Terekeka County in Central Equatoria State over the killing of eight people on the River Nile this week.

Their bodies were found floating on the River Nile on Tuesday in Bor in Jonglei State.

They were identified to be of business men who were traveling from Terekeka to Bor by boat, a few days ago.

They were found tied and had gunshot and knife wounds.

The Commissioner of Terekeka County, Jacob Gore told Eye Radio that police have been sent from Juba to the area to investigate the incident.

“We have already the chief. We have arrested seven people; the chief of that area and then some of the cattle camp leaders. Yesterday we got some force from Juba and we got some police.” He said.

“We are going to reinforce them so that they will go to where the incident took place.”

Gore says he has discussed with the commissioner of Bor County ways of maintaining security between Terekeka and Bor.
