NBGs police recorded 364 crime incidents in July

At least 364 criminal incidents including 46 rape and adultery cases were recorded in Northern Bahr el Ghazal State in July, the police said.

The state police spokesman, Captain Guot Guot Akol said the other crimes included in the report as theft, public disturbance, adultery, and physical assault among others.

Captain Akol revealed the statistics during the monthly Rule of Law Forum in Aweil on Thursday.

The Forum is conducted monthly by high court judges, legal administration, members of civil society, and UN partners to review the status of crimes in the state.

“Last month we registered a total of 364 crimes across the state,” Akol said in an interview with Eye Radio.

Captain Akol said the highest reported crime is theft with 183 incidents followed by 57 cases of violence among drunken individuals and gang groups.

The police official said the third highest rate of crime reported is adultery with 26 cases, and rape cases with 20.

“These are the crimes we registered across northern Bahr el Ghazal state during the month of July the other cases are normal including abandoning a child is one case and mischief cases are 24 public disturbance 15 and robbery 7.”

The state police spokesperson appeals to the public to abstain from criminal activities and be law-

“We have been engaging the civil population on how to stay away from crimes. This will help to reduce the crime rate in the state we are also engaging with the public through policy community committees.”
