Mundri West: Watchman arrested over arrow attack

Police in Mundri West County of Western Equatoria State have arrested a watchman in connection with an unprovoked shooting of a 26-year-old man with an arrow at night.

The suspect named Gift Alison Afugu said to be a security guard at Seven Days Primary School reportedly shot Clement Khamis on the leg at around 8:30 PM on Wednesday, June 14.

Speaking to local media, Mundri West Police Inspector Major General Isaka Abud said the victim is being treated at a local health facility.

“Around 8:30, a watchman known as Gift Alison Afugu, he was on duty and he shot someone called Clement Khamis on his leg with bow and arrow,” General Abud said.

“He (survivor) reported the matter to us and he has been admitted to the hospital and now he is in good condition.”

Major General Isaka Abud said the motive is unclear and that police are now investigating the suspect to know the motive behind the incident.

“So, we are still investigating to know the motives behind the attack and also know exactly what happened between Gift Alison and Clement Khamis. We have arrested Gift, and he is now with us, and we are investigating him to know more about what happened.”
