A female police investigator was arrested Friday for stabbing a woman to death in Mundri West County of Western Equatoria State – an incident that resulted in another revenge killing in the area, an official said.

Mundri Commissioner Zelha Dawa said suspect Second Lieutenant Alice, who owns a bar stabbed her own employee at the main market on Friday morning.

Alice, who works as a Gender Desk investigator at the county police station, had hired the victim to fetch water at her bar.

“Her Name is Alice, and she works as an investigator at the gender desk. She opened a bar, and had hired the deceased to carry water and some work in the bar,” the commissioner narrated.

Ms. Dawa said the two women quarrel over unpaid wages, and the police officer stabbed the woman in the stomach. She reportedly died on spot.

“Yesterday (Friday), the deceased woman asked for wages for the work she was doing, and a dispute occurred between the two, which developed into a fistfight. She stabbed the woman, who died due to internal bleeding.”

However, Dawa alleged that the deceased family killed another woman working as a prison officer and related to the suspect this morning.

“The family of the deceased woman tried to take revenge, but the government managed to control the situation, but unfortunately this morning they killed another woman who works as an officer in the prison service,” Ms. Dawa explained further.
