South Sudanese urged to learn from the past

Today is a day for South Sudan to learn from the past and unite to achieve peace, the leader of the Civil Society Alliance has told Eye Radio.

The day is being marked to show respect to those who have been killed in the conflict. Akuoch Ajang says 15th December is a dark day to the people of South Sudan.

“Our country is still bleeding because of that day. We all condemn that day…and we will not forget,” Mr Ajang stated.

Mr. Ajang says peace can only be achieved through reconciliation efforts inside South Sudan.

“I’m urging the citizens to work for peace. It’s our belief that we can make it here at home; peace that will last for long – peace that will let us build our nation.”

Currently, the National Committee on Healing Peace and Reconciliation is training peace mobilizers from the ten states.

The peace mobilizers represent different groups such as the religious leaders, women’s associations, and youth unions among others.
