Calm has returned to Kenyi village, Lainya County, where a group of armed men killed six people in a road ambush over the weekend, according to an official.

The vehicle was ambushed on its way from Yei to Juba.

Three of the bodies were collected after the incident on Saturday while three others were discovered on Sunday by security forces.

Residents of the area told Eye Radio that the victims were beheaded.

However, Lainya Commissioner Augustine Kiri has called upon the government to deploy more forces along the road.

“We need extra police so that we can see that these places that are far from here are safe. We need police so that they can prevent these issues from happening,” Mr Kiri stressed.

There have been incidents of road ambushes in CES. Recently along Juba-Kajo-keji road, five people were shot dead by bandits.
