According to Emmanuel Lolimo, the county commissioner, their parents had migrated from one cattle camp to another in search of pasture and water, leaving them behind.

Left alone, the children followed  their parents’ foot marks when they got lost in the wilderness.

“The children were left behind, then in the morning they followed foot marks of the animals to the new settlement. On their way these ladies got lost, they were actually 11 of them, five of them lost their direction and the rest also lost their direction separately,” he confirmed the incident to Eye Radio via a phone call on Saturday.

The county official said some hunter youth from Budi found the girls wandering in the bush last week on Thursday.

He said the youth from Laarim community in Budi County then took the children along with them.

Commissioner Lolimo said he went to Kayerekoel cattle camp where the children were kept and retrieved them.

“In the process of hunting, the Budian youth met these ladies and tried to talk to them and  the ladies said they got lost and inquired the direction to their community.

“So generously, these Budian youths took care of these ladies and they gave me the information that’s where I went there yesterday (Friday) and they were able to handover these girls,” he added.

According to Lolimo, the initiative taken by the Budi youth was a gesture of peace and unity between the two communities.

Mr. Lolimo emphasized the need for cooperation and peaceful co-existence  between the neighboring two communities.
