A child was killed and eight others injured in Kajo-Keji County of Central Equatoria State when a school was stricken by lightning yesterday.

The incident occurred in Kanapo Payam.

The children who were injured have been admitted in Mundari Hospital in Kajo-Keji, said Kajawya John, Eye Radio’s correspondent who was at the scene.

He says they are in a critical condition.

“Kasurk Primary School in Kanapo 2 Payam was stricken by a lightning and that affected primary six class,” said John.

A young boy identified as Paraji died on the spot. The other injured pupils have been admitted at Mundari Hospital.

Such incidents are common in the area. Last year, lightening stroked a primary school in Keji-keji County.
