Ibba community in Juba welcomes creation of more states

The Ibba County Community in Juba said they have welcomed the decision of the president to create more states in the country.

Early this month, President Salva Kiir issued an order splitting the ten states into 28 in what he says is an effort to devolve power to leadership at the state levels.

In the order, Western Equatoria was divided into Amadi, Maridi and Gbudwe states.

“We are happy and very happy about it. Maridi state is a union between the people of Ibba and Maridi, therefore all things should equally between the two counties of Maridi and Ibba,” said the Chairperson of Ibba Community in Juba Amona Rajio Sende.

The Chairperson of Maridi Community in Juba, Joseph Abrahoma Salah said he will work together with the people of Ibba for the betterment of the newly established state.

He said: “Ibba has been part and parcel of Maridi time immemorial, and we will continue to work together and support each other in every arena. Let us all join hands to work together to build our beloved state”

For his part, the Member of Parliament representing Maridi in the National Parliament, Justin Joseph Marona, said Maridi will be a unique state in South Sudan because its fertile lands.
