UNMISS Tongpiny camp flooded - Mar 2014

The government says it wants to resettle all the Internally Displaced Persons in the UN camps in Juba to their homes by May this year.

The Deputy Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Rachael Nyadak, told Eye Radio in Nairobi that this will be done before the rainy season begins.

“The condition in the UN is very bad because it’s raining now and children are dying with diseases outbreak, like cholera and other types of diseases, including malaria,” she said.

“… it has become a concern of his Excellency, the president of the republic. He ordered all the cabinet to put it as a priority that people should come out of the camp before the end of May.”

Last week, the Unity state government airlifted families from UN camps in Juba to Bentiu to re-establish their lives.
