Cattle owners in Ajogo Payam, Gogrial East County, in Warrap state are to pay a 5-pound fine for each cow found to have damaged crops.

Four executive chiefs and heads of cattle camps made the decision to address the issue of cattle damaging local farms in the area.

“They have drafted the local laws and they have been signed by the payam administrator,” said Mariak Madut Thiik, County official.

“The County has been given a copy and cattle camp leaders have also received copies. If the cattle destroy farms, the cattle owner has to pay compensation for the damage.”

Mr. Madut urged cattle owners to respect the agreement signed by the community leaders and cattle camp leaders.
