FM attends burial of Mic Stata

A government delegation headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs is in the Zambian capital, Lusaka, to attend the burial of the Zambian president.

Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin will be representing President Salva Kiir during the funeral service.

The Zambian president, Michael Sata died at the age of 77 at a London hospital where he had been receiving treatment for an undisclosed illness.

“Hon Dr. Barnaba Mariel Benjamin which is heading the country’s delegation and joined by the South Sudan Ambassador to Zimbabwe Ambassador Gabriel Gai to deliver Condolence massage on behalf of the President of the Republic and the people of South Sudan,” Amb Makol confirmed to Eye Radio.

The burial ceremony will be attended by Heads of State from Africa.

Mr. Sata became president on his fourth try, having previously been a member of the governing party in Zambia.

He had vowed to transform the fortunes Zambia, which is one of the world’s largest producers of copper.
