Government negotiation team attends a session in Addis Ababa - Feb 2014.

There was progress in the last session of the South Sudan Peace talks, the spokesperson of the government delegation to the peace talks, Michael Makuei Lueth, has said.

The delegation arrived in Juba yesterday from Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa to consult with their constituencies for 15 days.

On 9th of this month, the warring parties – the government and the SPLM/SPLA-in-Opposition – signed an agreement recommitting themselves to cease hostilities.

Makuei Said the agreement signed was effective from 9th November.

“It is worth mentioning that there was a progress made in this session. Ultimately, we know that the cessation of hostilities was signed on the 23rd of January, but the cessation of hostilities was not signed all these time up to this moment,” said Mr Makuei.

Mr Makuei said the delegations will travel to Ethiopia to the next session of the peace dialogue on twenty fourth of this month.
