Police in Eastern Equatoria State have appealed to road construction companies to install road signs to direct drivers, after a fatal incident along the Juba-Torit road last week.

The state police commissioner – Major General James Monday Enoka said three people died and four others were injured in a car crash on October 21.

“Three people died and four were wounded, and the traffic police is investigating the cause of the incident,” said Enoka.

All the survivors are reportedly in stable condition at Torit Hospital.

The accident happened when a car overturned along the Juba-Torit-Magwi road, and police say the reason for the crash has not been established.

However, General Enoka called on the company that constructed the road linking Torit to Juba to install road signs to reduce road accidents.

Speaking to Eye Radio on Sunday, the security official also appealed to drivers to adhere to the permitted speed for their own safety.

“The state authorities have tasked the minister of road and bridge to inform the company that constructed the road to install signed post on the road because the new drivers on the road they don’t know the Potholes, slides, and bumps on the road  and for this incident, I am still waiting for traffic report.”
