Ex-political detainees’ security expected in Juba on Thursday

The Office of the President says 60 security personnel from South Africa will arrive in Juba on Thursday ahead of five former political detainees.

Yesterday, the SPLM announced that the first group of the former political detainees will return to the country next week. The security will protect the former detainees during their stay in Juba.

Presidential Press Secretary Ateny Wek Ateny told Eye Radio that the South African security personnel will work in coordination with the national security.

“They will work in convention. There will be no conflict because the same national security will be also provide security [to the former detainees],” Mr Ateny said.

The 10 former detainees include Pagan Amum Okech, Deng Alor Kuol and John Luk Jok.
