The Border Advisor to the Lakes State government, who was missing, has returned home safely.

Police had feared that Poth Dumic was killed in an ambush on Thursday last week. She was accompanying the commissioner of Rumbek North to a cattle camp.

They were attacked by gunmen. Commissioner Abraham Maloth Marier was killed in the incident.

Ms Dumic told Eye Radio that she escaped into the bush and got lost.

“When we felt into this ambush, I looked at the people with whom I came. I ran for one hour. I did not think of anything. I was still fine. I ran and the people who were behind me exchanged fire with the rebels until they returned,” she described her ordeal.

“After that, I was okay. No rebel followed me. There were men after me and before me. I was in the middle. No rebel even saw me. Those things are all lies. No rebel caught or harmed me.”
