Seven people have died of suspected cases of Cholera in Lobonok Payam, Juba County, this week, according to local chief.

Silva Kiiri says 11 other people with signs and symptoms of the deadly disease have been admitted in two health centers in the area.

He says the major challenge the residents of Lobonok are facing is the long distance to the medical centers and lack of vehicles to transport patients during emergency.

“The problem that I am not so much happy about is the distance,” he said.

“The place where these people are taken for emergency services is very far from the current place where the prevalence is.

“There are no vehicles. They’re taken to the place of funeral on motor bikes.”

Mr. Kiiri urged the government to build a health center nearer to the residents of Lobonok so that they can access the facility easily.
