Central Equatoria State Cabinet has approved revised the budget ceiling of 20 billion pounds for fiscal year 2023-2024.

The budget was presented to the executive by the state minister of Finance, Planning and Investment.

It has increased the salaries of the state civil servants by 400 percent, in accordance with the national budget.

The state Council of Ministers has directed the ministries of Finance, Planning and Investment, and Labour, Public Service to immediately implement the new salary structure.

CES Cabinet Affairs Minister Wayi Godwill Edward said the budget was approved after a lengthy discussion.

“After lengthy discussion, the cabinet resolved to approve the Central Equatoria state budget ceiling for the fiscal year 2023-2024 adjusted to tune of 20,190,694,751 South Sudanese pounds,” Godwill said.

“And it directed the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Investment to take the necessary processes for budget preparations and to be submitted to the cabinet within short period of time.”

The state cabinet also approved a report of the committee to review the e-Tax operation.

Emmanuel Adil cabinet also ordered an immediate suspension of the operationalization of the system pending the amendment of the state Revenue Act.
