The International Organization for Immigration has donated solar panels priced at more than 200,000 US dollars to connect Bor Civil Hospital with electricity.

The donation will generate 75 kilowatts of electricity and enhance power supply in the state hospital.

The hospital’s Medical Director, Dr Bol Chau said the solar electricity will allow the facility to function for 24 hours without power outage.

“The fuel we use to receive couldn’t take us to the end of the month. So, you are forced to switch it off at a time when there is no emergency but now with solar, the hospital is able to function for 24 hours on power,” Chau said.

On his part, Agany Majok, the representative of the International Organization for Immigration said the solar panels will generate 75 percent of the power needed by the facility.

“The power we provided up to a maximum of 75% which is more than the power provided by the generator by 25 % now the hospital will connect with power all the days of the week.”

Meanwhile, Jonglei State Minister of Health, Chuol Diu said with a 24-hour power supply, health workers will not operate without hindrance.

“A hospital without water and power is not the hospital, because doctors can’t work in environments where there are not all these things. I want to thank you for the work you have done for us. I am urging you as partners that there are a lot of things you can do for us.”
