A Civil Society Group says it will petition the parliament if it fails to conduct sittings this week.

The Community Empowerment for Progress Organization says the assembly has not been holding its sessions for the last two weeks without giving any reason to the public.

The Community Empowerment for Progress Organization says it will be ready to petition the national parliament if this week passes without sittings and without prioritizing the passing of major bills.

It says the parliament is supposed to have sitting as normal to address pending issues such as; current economic crisis, and passing legislations that are overdue like national revenue bill and Comprehensive Agriculture Master Plan.

In a statement it says it is disturbed and discouraged about the national parliament missing their regular sitting and soon they will be demanding recess without conduct any business.

The Executive Director of CEPO, Edmond Yakani says the assembly has to be serious in taking responsibilities to fulfilling their public entrusted obligations, duties and responsibilities.

The Chairperson for Information Committee in the national parliament, Oliver Morri has declined to comment on the matter.
