The Minister for Presidential Affairs is calling on South Sudan leaders to reconcile the citizens as the country heads towards general elections in 2024.

Bangasi Joseph Bakosoro made the remarks during a thanksgiving ceremony for his appointment as the Minister for Presidential Affairs in Juba.

Minister Bakosoro says the leaders should refrain from violence and work towards the stability of the country.

He added that the politicians have to play a diplomatic role in the region and internationally to put South Sudan on the international stage.

“Let us reconcile the South Sudanese people, reconciliation. There is no need while we are going forward to develop the country and make it stable, we begin again to fight among ourselves,” said Bakosoro.

“We need to reconcile, we have to play our diplomatic role in the region and internationally to bring back our South Sudan on the international stage. We shall do it slowly but surely as we are going for the elections next year,” he said.

Bangasi also urged the leaders to desist from retaliation but rather forgive one another and unite the people of South Sudan.

“Leadership is not about retaliation and hating everybody. I will never do that whether you insulted me yesterday, and I will never retaliate I will show you what is leadership,” Minister Bakasoro said.

“It is by example not by misbehaviour, not by retaliation it is by forgiving, and guiding, mentoring and showing you the right retaliation, we have many political parties, when we are in a government we must be united people of South Sudan.”
