The Primate of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan is calling on the South Sudanese to denounce the culture of violence as they enter the festive season.

Despite the signing of the 2028 peace agreement, South Sudan has over the years been marred by inter-communal violence in different states, resulting in loss of lives and even displacement.

In his X-Mass message on Tuesday, Archbishop Justin Badi Arama said that the church prays that the festive season brings the spirit of joy, hope, peace and into the new year 2024.

However, he called on the citizens to wholeheartedly embrace the spirit of peace.

“Let our welcome to the newborn saviour, be genuine, wholehearted and sincere. It is our prayer that the peace that the Angel announced on the first Christmas might remove from us all the spirit of violence, and increase in us the spirit of joy, hope, and peace into the new year 2024,” said Rev. Badi.
