Awut to table a memo on recovering school lands

The Council of Ministers has tasked the Minister of General Education and Instruction to present a memo on recovering school lands encroached upon across the country.

This was revealed by Information Minister Michael Makuei at a press conference after the cabinet meeting on Friday.

Makuei said the decision after a presentation by Vice President for Service Cluster Hussein Abdelbagi Akol on the situation of public encroachment on schools.

He said the government will consider deliberations and appropriate actions to recover school and other government lands across the country.

“After thorough deliberations on the issue of the lands of schools that were taken over, after thorough deliberation the council decided that the minister of General Education and Instruction presents a memo to the cabinet on the same issue,” he said.

“This is in consideration of any other appropriate action that might be taken in order to recover all the lands in the Republic of South Sudan that belongs to the Ministry of Education and other government institutions.”
