The South Sudan Workers’ Trade Union Federation is urging all government institutions to monitor the implementation of the new circular issued by the Minister of Labor and Public Service.

The federation also urged all private institutions to implement the new circular issued on Friday last week.

The circular asks private sector and NGOs operating in the country, to notify all the foreigners working in positions designated for nationals to cease working by 15th of next month.

The positions are Executive Directors, Personnel Managers, Secretaries, Human Resource Officers, Public Relation Officers, Procurement Officers, Front Desk Officers, Protocol Officers and Receptionists.

“The government should ensure that this circular is on the right track in terms of implementation so that we can address the issue of unemployment in the country,” Pasqual Michael Apai, Secretary of the National Trade Union Federation, told Eye Radio’s Dawn program.

There have been concerns from the youth that expats have taken positions that belonged to the nationals in various NGOs.

Mr. Apai said all the private institutions and business entities have been asked to advertise for the vacant positions mentioned by the Ministry of Labor.
