Armed men killed four people in a cattle raiding incident in Jonglei state’s Twic East County yesterday evening.

The County Commissioner, Dau Akoi Jurkuc, told Eye Radio that one person was also wounded in the attack.

“Yesterday around 2PM, about 9 young men went to look after the cattle, and from there they divided themselves into two groups, the group of four and group of five,” Mr Dau explained.

“So what happened is that there was an attack by unknown gunmen; the group of 5 was attacked, 4 of them were killed on spot, and one was wounded, so only 1 survived.”

Commissioner Dau said there are not enough police officers in the county to protect civilians.

“After this rebellion, the army, the police, the prison and wildlife are not in one place; you find them scattered…some of them have crossed the river with their families, some of them are in Bor.”

Commissioner Dau Akoi said there have been three similar attacks in the past one week in the County.

He said there is a need for the counties neighboring each other in the state to form a joint police protection force.
