Authorities of Bor town say they intend to reopen schools for students who have returned to the town.

School and many other daily life activities were disrupted by the national crisis which left over 2000 people in the county alone.

Bor town Mayor, Nhial Majak Nhial told Eye Radio’s Dawn Program that there are plans underway to accommodate pupils who have been displaced from other areas in the town.

“Most of the population has now returned to Bor and also we have received IDPs from areas affected by the conflict in Jonglei Area, so we are trying now to mobilize and see how the school can re-open to be able to enroll the students or the pupils back to school.”

He expressed fears that many of the teachers haven’t returned to the area.

“In most of these schools, some of the teachers have not yet returned and there is basically nothing at the schools.”

Last week, UNICEF said that it is setting up temporary learning space for children in the IDP camps; in Juba, Bor, Bentiu, Malakal and Minkaman.
