SPLA-IO generals arrive in Juba

Twenty two police generals from the SPLM in Opposition have arrived in Juba to take part in the Joint Defense Board under the peace agreement.

The UN provided the air transport of the officials from Pagak through Malakal, to Juba.

The team, which arrived on Thursday, was received by the minister of Information, Michael Makuei Lueth, and the head of the advance team Taban Deng Gai.

“This marks the beginning of the real implementation of the agreement,” Mr Makuei said.

The Head of the advance team in Juba, Gen. Taban Deng Gai, told the press that other members of their security team are expected to arrive soon.

They would be followed by their leader and Vice President Designate, Dr. Riek Machar.

“We hope that Juba will now be more peaceful,” Mr Deng told reporters.
