South Sudan Vice President Designate Dr Riek Machar on Thursday met Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta to discuss steps taken in the implementation of the peace agreement.
The two leaders also discussed the status on the arrangement of Dr Machar’s return to Juba.
“The Kenyan president expressed his country’s readiness to support the implementation of the peace process as you know [he] is a rapporteur in the IGAD body and he has been supporting the peace process all along,” said James Gatdet, the spokesperson of Dr Machar.
Dr Machar was expected in Juba since December for the formation of a transitional government of national unity.
However, according to the security arrangements under the peace agreement, there are 1, 370 SPLA-IO troops required in Juba before his return.
