The International Organization for Migration is appealing for $80.2 million to provide lifesaving assistance across the country.

The funding will be spent on activities such as protection, migration management, and transition and recovery programs.

The UN estimates that 6.1 million people will be in need of assistance in 2016.

Of these, the humanitarian community is targeting 5.1 million people for assistance.

IOM says the 2016 South Sudan Humanitarian Response Plan developed in close coordination with all Clusters, appeals for 1.3 billion dollars to target these people.

IOM South Sudan Chief of Mission, David Derthick warns that humanitarian needs in South Sudan will be greater than in previous years.

He says the conflict continues to force people from their homes, exhaust household resources and constrain humanitarian access to many in need.
